Project Overview

A patient-focused platform for Eurodiet, empowering users to manage their weight-loss journey. HealthPath enables meal tracking, access to personalized plans, purchase of prescribed products, and secure communication with doctors — creating a seamless, collaborative care experience.

The Problem

Patients participating in the Eurodiet program faced challenges in managing their weight-loss journey. They struggled to track their meals and progress, access personalized meal plans, and stay motivated. Additionally, there was no streamlined way to purchase prescribed products or communicate directly with doctors, leading to gaps in care and engagement.

The Goal

To design a patient-focused platform that simplifies weight-loss management by providing tools for meal and activity tracking, personalized insights, access to Eurodiet products, and secure communication with doctors. The platform aimed to enhance patient engagement, motivation, and adherence to their health goals.

My Role

I served as the UX/UI Designer for this project, overseeing the design process from research to delivery. I worked collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure the platform met both patient and business needs.

Responsibilities
  • Conducted user research to understand patient needs, preferences, and pain points.
  • Developed personas and user journey maps to guide design decisions.
  • Created wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs in Adobe XD.
  • Designed features such as meal tracking, progress visualization, and product purchasing workflows.
  • Conducted usability testing to refine the platform based on patient feedback.

User Research Summary

To understand patient frustrations, needs, and expectations, I conducted user research through interviews and surveys. My goal was to gather insights into their behaviors and challenges to design a platform that effectively supports their weight-loss journey. Given the project scope and timeline, I prioritized qualitative research methods to capture detailed feedback. This approach provided valuable insights into key pain points, such as tracking meals, accessing personalized plans, purchasing prescribed products, and maintaining motivation. These findings informed the platform's user-centered design.

Pain Points

Tracking Difficulties

Patients found it challenging to consistently log meals, activities, and progress, leading to disengagement from their weight-loss journey.

Limited Access to Personalized Plans

Users lacked easy access to tailored meal plans and recipes, making it difficult to align their diet with their goals.

Motivational Challenges

A lack of motivational tools, such as visual progress tracking and reminders, made it hard for patients to stay encouraged and focused.

Communication Barriers

Patients experienced difficulties in communicating directly with doctors, resulting in a lack of timely support and guidance.

Problem Statement

Claire Martin, a busy marketing manager from France, needs a simple and intuitive way to track her meals, access personalized plans, purchase prescribed Eurodiet products, and communicate with her doctor because her demanding schedule makes it difficult to stay consistent and motivated in managing her weight-loss journey.

Design

Sitemap

I created the sitemap to establish a clear and intuitive structure, ensuring users can navigate effortlessly through the platform. By organizing content based on user needs and behavior, I aimed to deliver a seamless experience that aligns with the platform's goals and enhances usability.

Digital Wireframes and Prototype

During this stage, I transformed initial sketches into digital wireframes, focusing on visualizing the structure and functionality of the platform. I iterated on the wireframes based on user needs and the sitemap, ensuring a logical layout and intuitive flow. The process emphasized aligning design decisions with user goals, preparing for usability testing and the creation of an interactive high-fidelity prototype.

Usability Study: Findings

During the usability study for the "My Log" feature, participants identified key areas where enhancements could improve functionality and user engagement. These findings provided actionable insights that were incorporated into the high-fidelity prototype to better meet user needs.

Finding

Participants expressed the need for flexible date options to view their data over different time periods, such as "Today," "Last Week," and "Last Month." The absence of these filters and a calendar picker made it difficult for users to analyze trends effectively or explore specific dates.

Details suggested:

  • Adding tabs for quick navigation between "Today," "Last Week," and "Last Month."
  • Incorporating a calendar picker to allow users to select specific dates for more detailed data exploration.

Finding

Participants found it challenging to quickly understand whether their nutrient intake was within healthy limits, as the progress bars lacked clear visual feedback.

Details suggested:

  • Replace the plain progress bars with color-coded indicators (e.g., green for "within range," red for "exceeded limits") to provide immediate clarity and actionable insights.

Finding

Participants expressed the need to add and track daily tasks, such as setting step goals, logging active minutes, and monitoring their completion directly within the "Activity Log" screen. The lack of task management features made it harder for users to stay motivated and organized.

Details suggested:

  • Add an option for users to set daily goals for steps, active minutes, and other activities.
  • Display progress for each task visually, such as through completion bars or checkmarks, to keep users informed and motivated.

Interactive High-Fidelity Prototype

This interactive high-fidelity prototype highlights the refined user experience for the tested features, incorporating feedback from the usability study and demonstrating the transition from wireframes to a polished design.

Takeaways

Impact

The HealthPath platform, integrated with the Doctor Weight-Loss Care Portal, created a comprehensive solution for managing weight-loss journeys. Patients were empowered with tools to track meals, set activity goals, communicate directly with doctors, and conveniently purchase prescribed Eurodiet products, while doctors benefited from real-time patient insights and streamlined workflows. This integration ensured cohesive data sharing and collaboration, enhancing engagement, adherence to weight-loss programs, and satisfaction for both patients and healthcare providers.

What I learned

Integrating HealthPath with the Doctor Portal presented unique challenges, particularly in ensuring seamless data flow and creating a unified experience for patients and doctors. Balancing the distinct needs of these user groups while maintaining a cohesive design required thoughtful planning, particularly around features like prescribing and purchasing Eurodiet products. I learned the importance of designing for interconnected systems, ensuring usability and simplicity for all users, and aligning functionalities to deliver a seamless, integrated experience that supports both user and business goals.
