Effyssance is a health-focused platform that helps users manage their supplement intake and provides personalized recommendations from its exclusive product line. By combining a health quiz, curated product suggestions, and schedule management, the Effyssance solution helps users stay organized and consistent with their supplement routines.
Users need a way to find reliable supplements tailored to their specific health goals and manage their intake schedules effectively. This is because they often feel overwhelmed by the abundance of product choices and struggle to stay consistent with their supplement routines due to busy lifestyles.
To provide users with a simple, personalized, and intuitive way to discover, purchase, and manage their supplement intake through a seamless mobile platform.
As the UX/UI Designer, I led the end-to-end design process, including conducting user research, analyzing insights, and developing user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes. I worked closely with stakeholders to align the platform's design with user needs and business goals, ensuring an intuitive and visually cohesive experience.
To uncover user needs, pain points, and behaviors, I conducted user research focusing on surveys and competitive analysis. My goal was to gather actionable insights to guide the design process and ensure the platform addressed real user challenges. Due to time constraints, I prioritized quantitative research by using targeted surveys to collect measurable data from health-conscious individuals. This approach allowed me to quickly identify trends, such as the need for personalized product recommendations and simplified scheduling.
Overwhelming Product Choices
Users struggle to identify supplements that match their specific health goals due to an oversaturated market.
Inconsistent Supplement Intake
Users find it difficult to maintain a routine, leading to missed doses and reduced health benefits.
Lack of Personalization
Users feel that existing solutions do not cater to their unique health needs and goals.
Busy Lifestyles
Users need a quick and simple way to manage their supplement schedules without added stress.
Anna is a busy professional who works long hours in a high-paced environment. She is proactive about her health but struggles to stay consistent with supplement routines. She often feels overwhelmed when researching which supplements align best with her needs and finds it difficult to integrate them into her schedule.
By creating user journey map, I wanted to illustrate the process of how Anna behaves, feels, and what she thinks while accomplishing her goals to address pain points or provide moments of delight.
Goals: To effectively manage her supplement routine by discovering tailored products, setting up intake schedules, making purchases, and staying motivated through tracking and reminders.
Anna Laurent, a busy sales executive from France, needs a simple and intuitive way to discover personalized supplements, manage intake schedules, and receive timely reminders because her demanding lifestyle and inconsistent habits make it challenging to maintain a consistent and effective supplement routine.
The purpose of this sitemap is to define a clear and intuitive navigation structure for Effyssance. It ensures users can easily access core functionalities like scheduling, product exploration, and profile management while aligning with the app's goal of simplifying supplement management and enhancing the user experience.
To validate the user experience of the Effyssance app, I created a low-fidelity wireflow focused on a specific user flow: the quiz to recommendations, purchase, and intake scheduling process. This wireflow highlights my UX design process and serves as an example for this case study.
Low-fidelity wireflows are an essential tool in the UX design process because they:
In this case study, I use the wireflow to demonstrate how I designed and tested the user flow from quiz introduction to scheduling supplement intake. By focusing on this flow, I aim to showcase my process of identifying pain points, validating design assumptions, and refining interactions to meet user needs.
Study type:
Moderated usability testing
Location:
Remote sessions conducted via video conferencing
Participants:
5 participants
Length:
30 minutes
During the usability study for the Effyssance app, participants identified key areas where enhancements could improve functionality and user engagement. These findings provided actionable insights that were incorporated into the high-fidelity prototype to better meet user needs.
Finding
Quiz Questions Screens:
Participants found it unclear how far along they were in the quiz. To address this, we will add a progress indicator to the screen. This will provide users with a clear sense of progression, reducing uncertainty, enhancing engagement, and fostering trust throughout the quiz experience.
Finding
Bottom Navigation Bar:
Participants suggested easier access to personalized recommendations. A “Recommended for You” section will be added to the bottom navbar for fast access. This change will improve navigation efficiency, enabling users to seamlessly access tailored content.
Finding
Intake Setup Screen:
Participants expressed interest in tracking their remaining pills and being reminded when refills are needed. We will add a pills-left indicator and a feature to set refill reminders. These features prioritize user needs by reducing cognitive load and ensuring users can manage their supplements effectively without missing doses.
Finding
Schedule Dashboard Screen:
Participants suggested the addition of a calendar view for visualizing intake schedules. This feature will provide users with a clear overview of their planned supplement usage, improving their ability to manage and adjust schedules effectively.
The insights gained from the usability study informed the development of the high-fidelity prototype. The refined screens incorporate features such as a progress indicator for the quiz, enhanced navigation with a “Recommended for You” section, a calendar view for visualizing intake schedules on the Schedule Dashboard, and intake management tools. These updates ensure the design better meets user expectations and improves overall usability.
Impact
People are still cautious about using digital tools for supplement and wellness management, as health is a crucial aspect of their lives. In an effort to address this, we created a platform that integrates various features like personalized recommendations, intake management, and progress tracking. The challenge was designing for a broad target audience, ranging from young adults to older users, each with unique needs and expectations. By considering these diverse user profiles and common pain points with existing apps, we developed a platform with a user-friendly interface and seamless functionality.
What I learned
Through this project, I deepened my understanding of the importance of usability testing in uncovering hidden pain points. I learned that:
This project reinforced the value of user-centered design in creating solutions that not only meet user expectations but also inspire trust and long-term engagement.
Thank you for taking the time to explore this case study as part of my UX/UI portfolio. The Effyssance project was an exciting challenge that allowed me to apply user-centered design principles to create meaningful solutions. I hope this case study provides insight into my design process and problem-solving approach. If you have any questions or feedback, please don’t hesitate to reach out—I’d be delighted to discuss this project further.
